In the South West of France, between the Perigord and the Landes forest, surrounded by farmlands, museums and castles, in the medieval walled town of Monflanquin, a group of artists are working together under the guidance of Gregory Pelizzari.
Professor Gregory Pelizzari teaches the Technique Mixte, a Renaissance approach to painting that combines tempera emulsion and oil paint to achieve a profoundly intricate level of detail and greater luminosity of color than oil paint alone can produce.
This studio art course is geared to both beginning and advanced students. The only prerequisite is an intermediate to accomplished level of drawing and a serious attitude towards the craft of painting.
The painting course runs through the whole year, there are two ateliers, one in Monflanquin where the intensive two month courses take place and one in Villeneuve sur Lot.
A public exhibition of student's work is held once a year in the town.
The main Atelier is located in Monflanquin in the South West of France. Set on a hill, the picturesque Monflanquin is the principal village of the local district. It is a well-preserved fortified village in Aquitaine.
The Aquitaine region includes not only prehistoric caves, villages and rolling river valleys of the Dordogne and the Bordeaux vineyards, but also the rocky Pyrenees mountain chain, the Basque country with its beautiful beaches, the flat forest land of the Landes and the medieval castles and villages in the Lot-et-Garonne.
This small medieval town is quickly gaining an international reputation as an artists' community. There are many art exihibitions through out the year and artist-in-residency programs.
Students from all over Europe and the U.S have attended the Atelier Neo Medici.
Accommodations are available for international students.
The courses are taught in French and English.
Class size is kept to a minimum in order to facilitate one-to-one contact as often as possible; never more than ten and very often under five.
Gregory Pelizzari is an American artist living in France since 1974, his work is exhibited in the USA, England, Switzerland and France.
